Abstract Nanoscience and nanotechnology are new frontiers for this century. Nanotechnology translates into the ability to manipulate material on a nanoscale. As in other sectors, recent developments field of nanoscience offer opportunities innovation food. Nanofoods considered foods grown, produced, processed or packaged using nanotechnological tools that incorporate nanomaterials improve nutritional quality, taste texture, increase shelf life Nanotechnology’s applications diverse, going from nanoencapsulated ingredients, such as bioactive compounds, nutrients food additives bioavailability ingredients constitute nanostructures nanotextures provide barriers physical-chemical protection, which allow modification flavour odour. Also, has potential be used biosensors monitor conditions during storage transport, through packaging includes indicators. This review covers development use along supply chain, focusing agricultural production, industrial processing protection packaging, well addressing advantages disadvantages technology.
